Sutong Tower distillation is a liquid separation technology. It’s like a tower you stick up to help sort stuff that’s mixed up. Let us also understand how tower distillation works and which roles it plays, now and then.
Now picture this: you have a large jar full of water and oil mixing together. You want to remove the water from the oil. This is where distillation columns comes in handy. The tower operates as a colossal filter that can get water and oil apart based on their boiling.
When the mix in the tower is heated, the liquid that turns into steam first is the one that boils at the lower temperature (water). This steam rises up the tower and gets collected at the top. The fluid (like oil) that boils at a higher temperature remains at the bottom. The entire process is known as distillation.
Tower distillation by Sutong is a separation process where several liquids are separated from each other. For the oil and gas industry, it assists with distilling crude oil into several components such as gasoline, diesel fuel, and jet fuel. The distillation column internals is widely used in the drink-making industry to make alcohol by separating fermented liquids.
The one great thing about Sutong tower distillation is that it is a straightforward method for separating liquids. Also, it is an economical way to produce large quantities of products. The downside is that it requires a lot of energy to heat the mixture — cost prohibitive.
There are various types of tower distillations, such as simple distillation, fractional, and vacuum. They each have their own advantages, and they are all used for specific purposes. For instance, Fractional Distillation is employed for separating liquids that have similar boiling points, whereas random packing in distillation column is used for gradually separating the liquids at reduced temperatures.
