Condensing column

In distillation, a condensing column is an area where both vapor and liquid in the vacuum mix. So this definition for it is very crucial because it describes how to separate phases of a liquid mixture. The condensing column cools down the vapor rising through the boiling liquid below. Because of this cooling, the vapor condenses into a liquid, allowing it to be collected and separated from the other elements placed in the mixture.

How a Condensing Column Works in Distillation

In. distillation, a liquid mixture is heated and boiled. As the liquid boils, its constituents vaporize and travel up through the condensing column. Inside the column, there are trays or packing material that provide additional surface area for the vapor to contact. As it rises, the vapor cools down and returns to liquid. Different parts of the vapor condense back into a liquid again at various heights in the column, allowing them to be collected separately.
